The school serves students from ages 3 to 18, and provides education from Discovery to Grade 12. The school was started in 1988 and in 2004 moved into its specialized campus located on 9. 2 hectares with abundant green-space and modern facilities. There are currently 61 nationalities represented among the children with a teaching staff of over 100 full- and part-time teachers representing 17 nationalities. The programme of studies is international in its focus and draws on materials from Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and the US. Students are able to explore their learning through a variety of subjects: English language and literature, mathematics, science, social studies, computer science, French, Swedish, Korean, Spanish and Vietnamese language/culture, as well as art, drama, music, and physical education. The school is an authorized IBO school and offers the Primary Years Programme of the International Baccalaureate Organization (Pre-K to Grade 5), the Middle Years Programme of the IBO (Grades 6-10) and the IB Diploma and Certificate Programmes (Grades 11-12). Students are encouraged to achieve according to their own skills and potential ability. This is achieved by the close one-to-one working relationship between the student and the teacher to facilitate this kind of learning. Class sizes are limited to 20 in elementary and 22 in the middle and high schools. The facilities are state-of-the-art and the Middle/High School are using the one-to-one tablet programme for learning. The school includes a growing library (33, 000+ volumes), a canteen, a science and technology centre, an art and music centre, two grassed playing fields, and covered sports arena. There are also after-school activities which include programmes in sports, creative activities, languages, and outdoor clubs. UNIS is a member of MRISA and APAC for arts festivals, athletic competitions and cultural exchanges.
