The school currently has 399 students of secondary school age (ages 11-18). The medium of instruction is English and the students are prepared for IGCSE, AS and A2 Levels as well as the IELTS exam set by Cambridge University, OCR and Edexcel. Levent College is also accredited by the Edexcel examination board, entitling students to sit these examinations on school premises. Students within the 1st, 2nd and 3rd years are able to take CIE Young Learners (Flyers), KET and PET examinations respectively. The school’s primary aim is to enable all Levent College students to go on to higher education at universities in Britain, USA, Turkey and other European countries. The curriculum is based mainly on the British syllabus for key stages, IGCSE and GCE programs. However, in order to be accredited by the Ministry of Education of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus we have also included some local and cultural subjects into the curriculum. Admissions are application based with the evaluation of the applicant's previous school’s references, an individual interview and entrance tests. Levent College is fully equipped for A Level study. Classrooms have a capacity of 24 students. The school contains well equipped science, ICT labs, an art studio, a music studio and a growing library. Internet access is provided throughout the building via wireless, with computers and data projectors used in classrooms around the school. All students use the computers during the week and interactive whiteboards are used in many classrooms. The school has a fully furnished conference room for seminars, meetings and presentations. Currently a 350 seat capacity conference/theatre hall is under construction. In terms of facilities the school has a well-equipped sports centre that provides for a wide range of sporting activities. The Sports Hall allows students to play various games including badminton, basketball, volleyball, handball and table-tennis. Outdoors there is a football pitch as well as basketball and volleyball courts. An indoor swimming pool is located in the university campus which is located close by. |
