Instruction is in Turkish with strong emphasis given to the acquisition of English in the Pre-school, Primary school and Middle School. In the High School, English becomes the language of instruction for core subjects such as mathematics and science. The school offers the Turkish National Curriculum which is organized according to Primary Years principles in PK-4. The school was authorised to offer both the IB Diploma and the IB PYP in 2005. A standards driven curriculum operates in Grades 5-10, whilst the school offers English assessment by the Cambridge Young Learners tests in Grades 2-5. The 165-strong faculty are predominantly Turkish, with some 35 native English speaking teachers recruited from the United States, New Zealand, Canada, the UK and Australia. There is a strong professional development program in which all staff participate and a bilingual professional community is fostered within the school through language instruction for teachers as well as students. The school enjoys state of the art facilities. A separate building accommodates the Pre-school classes while the main facility houses Grades 1-4 in their home room bases and Grades 5-8, which are organized in a Middle School format as well as the High School. Staff and students have access to outstanding on-site cultural and sporting facilities, including a 400-seat auditorium, large indoor sports center, tennis center and fitness center, a 400-m tartan running track, 25-m indoor pool, and Olympic size competition pool. As a Round Square school, offering clubs and activities such as MUN and European Youth Parliament that focus on global issues, Enka Schools provides opportunities for students to interact with worldwide issues and with schools and students from the global community.
