Taejon Christian International School KoreaFounded in 1958 by missionaries as a centrally located
boarding school outside of Seoul, TCIS (then called Taejon Foreign
School) began as a primary school with eight students in three grades
meeting in a U. S. Army Quonset hut. By the late 1960s and early 1970s,
TCIS (then called Korea Christian Academy) was both an elementary and
secondary school with close to one hundred students in twelve grades
meeting in classrooms and more permanent structures. Today, TCIS is a
fully accredited college preparatory international Christian school with
approximately 600 students (Pre Kindergarten - 12th grade) taught in
five new and remodeled buildings. TCIS is governed by a board of
trustees composed of members appointed by the founding U. S. church
missions and two parents elected at-large from the community. The
headmaster is the chief administrator and is directly responsible to the
board for the operation of the school.
