Hørsholm International School Horsholm
International School (started in August, 1996) is a private day school
for children from the ages of 3-16, preschool to 10th grade. There are
approximately 180 students and 25 staff, from over 22 countries. The
school follows the International Baccalaureate Curriculum and offers
both the Primary Years (PYP) and Middle Years (MYP) programmes. HIS is
authorized to teach both the PYP and MYP. HIS currently holds membership
with the European Council of International Schools (ECIS). The language
of instruction is English and the students also have the opportunity to
learn the nations's host language, Danish. In the MYP the students are
offered a choice of languages which may include; Spanish, French, and
German. Teachers are qualified, native language English speakers. The
school begins at 08: 55 for all classes and ends at 14: 30 for the PYP;
MYP may finish at 15: 15 or 16: 00 on some days according to specialist
subjects. Preschool and K1 have extended child-minding hours from 07: 00
- 08: 55 and again from 14: 30-17: 00. HIS is the international
department of Nordsjallands Grundskole og Gymnasium (NGG), Denmark's
largest, private school. HIS is located in the green area 25km north of
Copenhagen and is easily accessible by car and public transportation.
