International Student
Scholarships for Outstanding Students
PolyU offers non-local students with
outstanding academic achievements the International Student Scholarships for
undergraduate studies at the University. Scholarships up to an amount of
HK$110, 000 (approx. US$14, 200) per annum are available to cover tuition fee and
living expenses, subject to satisfactory academic progress of the award
recipients at PolyU. The University will identify outstanding applicants for
award of scholarship and there is no need for students to apply for it.
Applicants will be informed of the award of scholarships upon notification of
the offer for admission.

Student Development

Student Exchange Programme: Students will have opportunity to take part in
the Student Exchange Programme, not only to earn credits for the degree, but
also to experience a different culture and enhance their language proficiency.
Presently the University exchanges students with over 170 universities spanning
more than 20 countries.

Development of
Preferred Graduates: With the collaboration of more than
1, 100 companies and organizations under the
'Preferred Graduate' Development Programme, we arrange summer placements
every year for students to work in Hong Kong, the Chinese Mainland or overseas.
This is one of the largest work-integrated learning programmes among
universities in Hong Kong. More than 7, 500 students have been successfully
placed through this programme since its introduction in 1997. A large-scale
intensive training programme, namely 'Leadership and Competence for Success', is
also in place to enhance students' leadership skills and prepare them for future
challenges.
International
Students are guaranteed a place in our Student Halls of Residence, which are
located near the University campus. The colourful and dynamic hall life instills
many out-of-classroom values, complementing and forming an integral part of the
University education. Rooms are designed for double occupancy, fully furnished,
air-conditioned and provided with a bathroom shared between two adjacent rooms,
as well as free telephone and broadband Internet service.
Tuition Fee & Scholarships
The tuition fee is approx. US$9, 000 per academic
year, which is highly subsidized by the Hong Kong Government. International
Student Scholarships up to US$14, 200 per annum are offered to students with
outstanding academic achievements to cover both tuition fee and living expenses
for their undergraduate studies at PolyU.
Minimum Entrance
Qualifications
Our Bachelor’s
degree programmes normally last for three years. Applicants holding non-local
qualifications are expected to have at least achieved an academic level
equivalent to GCE A-level standard, or completed the first year of a recognized
degree programme. Applicants holding the International Baccalaureate (IB)
Diploma are also considered having satisfied our minimum entrance requirement. Other acceptable
qualifications may be considered for admission to our four-year undergraduate
programmes taking an additional foundation year designed to prepare non-local
students to take up undergraduate studies at PolyU.
Language
Requirement
Applicants who have
not studied in an English-medium school for at least two years are required to
hold any of the following qualifications to be considered as fulfillment of the
minimum language requirement for admission:
1. A Test of
English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 550 for the paper-based test,
PLUS a Test of Written English (TWE) score of 4.5; OR a TOEFL
score of 213 or above for the computer-based test;
OR a TOEFL score of 79 or above for the Internet-based test; OR 2. A Band Score of
at least 5.5 in each of the sub-tests of the International English Language
Testing System (IELTS).
