The Hills Grammar School is an independent non-selective co-educational and non-denominational Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12 School. The ethos of the School is underpinned by humanitarian values and its major emphasis is the development of excellence in scholarship personal development and citizenship. The school is well known for its extensive co-curricular program offering a wide range of activities in Music sport leadership & Service and the Creative and Spoken Arts.

Facilities

Other Features

The School recognises and caters for gifted children as well as children with some learning difficulties. From Year 7 an academic Honours program offers flexible pathways of study for students with high ability in one or more of the following areas: Humanities (English History latin) mathematics and Science. The extensive student welfare network includes a K-12 director of Student Wellbeing House tutors consultant psychologists astrong peer leadership system and a student leadership committee. Work experience is run for one week in Year 10. Career and tertiary awareness is a key component of the school year.

Curriculum Years K-6

The Junior School teaching programs focus on the Key Learning Areas: English mathematics science and Technology Human Society and its Environment languages (French) music (including a compulsory string and woodwind/brass program) art drama physical Education Health and Personal Development. The School is currently a candidate for the International Baccaulaureate - Primary Years Program (PYP). The PYP allows students to explore their world through a series of guided inquiries that enrich the curriculum and give students increasing responsibility and ownership over their learning. The transdisciplinary nature of the program increases collaboration across and between classroom and specialist subjects and enhances the learning experiences for all

Tours are conducted on normal school days with normal classes and activities occurring throughout the junior and senior schools. This gives visitors a good "feel" for the culture of the campus an idea of class sizes and facilities from Kindergarten to Year 12 and an opportunity to meet with the Principal and other staff who can answer questions.
