Deakins locations
Deakin University has five
campuses in the state of Victoriatwo in the statescapital city of
Melbourne, and three campuses in the regional coastal cities ofGeelong
and Warrnambool. Each of the campuses have a distinct atmosphere
andstrengths in different course areas.
Geelong
Located fifteen minutes drive west of the
city, the Geelong campus at Waurn
Ponds
offers courses in arts, commerce,
education, journalism, public relations,
psychology, engineering, law, science,
computer science and social work. The
campus is home to the Geelong Technology
Precinct, described as where
University meets industry. It will
expand research and development capabilities
and provide opportunities for
university-industry partnerships and new enterprises
in the region
The
Geelong Waterfront campus, opened in
1996 in the former Dalgety Woolstores building on Corio Bay, now houses the
School of Architecture and Building, the School of Nursing, the University
Chancellery and administrative, service and project centres. The campus is also home
to Costa Hall, a world-standard ceremonial and performance space. The
nearby Ford Discovery Centre, a joint venture between Ford Australia, the City
of Greater Geelong and Deakin University, showcases the past, present and future of
Ford in Australia.
Melbourne
The
Melbourne campus at Burwood,with its
distinctive, curved white building is a
landmark in the eastern suburbs. As part
of an extensive campus redevelopment,
new buildings have been constructed in
recent years to cater for the environmental
science, IT and contemporary arts
teaching programs. These join the existing
courses in arts, commerce, law, nursing,
teacher education, disability studies,
psychology, science, sports science and
applied sciences. From 2007, international
students will utilise the newly
constructed, state-of-the-art International Centre.
The
Melbourne campus at Toorak provides
facilities for Deakin International and
the Deakin University English Language
Institute (DUELI), the Deakin Business
School and the Melbourne Institute of
Business and Technology. The historically
important Stonington mansion provides
executive offices and the Stonington
Stables Museum of Art houses part of the
University's contemporary art collection.
Warrnambool
The
Warrnambool campus, with teaching
strengths in environmental science, arts, education, commerce and
nursing, has also become a base for collaborative partnership-based
research especially in the field of sustainable natural
resources management. The recent creation of a $4.5 million University
Department of Rural Health, based at the Warrnambool campus, will address
professional development, training and research in rural health in the
Greater Green Triangle area.
Deakin University English Language Institute
Deakin University English Language Institute
(DUELI) is one of the most progressive university English language
centres in Australia and is part of the multiaward-winning Deakin
University. As well as preparing students for direct entry to
degree-level study at Deakin University and other tertiary institutions
in Australia, DUELI offers programs to English language students who wish
to develop their English skills for their own personal and professional
development.

entry pathway to Deakins undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

A program for high-level students with

MIBT pathway to Deakin University
Melbourne Institute of Business and
Technology (MIBT) offers an excellent pathway to Deakin for students who do not
meet the formal entry requirements for Deakin Universitys courses or who need
to bridge the gap between previous study and university.
Located on Deakin Universitys Melbourne
campus at Toorak, MIBT provides a direct pathway to second year study at
Deakin University in the areas of business/commerce, computing/information
technology and mass communication.
Students who do not meet the formal entry
requirements for Deakin University may be offered a place at Melbourne Institute
of Business and Technology (MIBT).
MIBT diplomas are equivalent to the first
year of the Deakin University
undergraduate degree. On satisfactory
completion of a MIBT diploma and subject to meeting University academic entrance
criteria, MIBT graduates are guaranteed entry to second year at Deakin
University.
TOORAK CAMPUS
Support services
Deakin University is committed to
providing assistance and support to all
international students throughout their
time at Deakin University. Services include airport reception, orientation programs,
International Student Advisers on all campuses and peer support networks, study
skills assistance and career advice, health care and personal counselling.
Students are taught by highly qualified academic staff and enjoy excellent
educational facilities across all campuses, including up-to-date computing resources
(24-hour access), laboratories, studios, workshops and libraries.
