About Caroline Chisholm Catholic College

Caroline Chisholm Catholic College was founded in 1997 and has it’s origins in three colleges: Christ the King (est. 1963) st. John’s College (est. 1965) and Chisholm College (est. 1977) each established to bring a Catholic education to girls and boys of the western suburbs of Melbourne. The College comprises three schools on two sites st John's (Year 7 to 9 Boys) christ the King (Year 7 to 9 Girls) and Sacred Heart (Year 10 to 12 Seniors) all located in multicultural Braybrook. Caroline Chisholm is a secondary Catholic College with single sex and co-educational arrangements and provides arrangements through the use of a common timetable; technological networking and a shuttle bus that ensures all students gain maximum access to various specialised facilities on either site. The progressive culture of Caroline Chisholm also reflects the spirit of the College’s founders the Brothers of the Sacred Heart and the Religious (Sisters) of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The parishes of Albion braybrook deer Park maidstone north Sunshine sunshine and West Sunshine sponsor the College.

Our mission at Caroline Chisholm Catholic College is to strive to live Gospel truths and values. We seek to provide a holistic education. We endeavour to inspire and empower all members of the college community to reach their full potential.

Curriculum

Within the context of the Catholic ethos and tradition acomprehensive curriculum at Caroline Chisholm is centred on students’ key developmental needs at each phase of schooling and takes into account the cognitive and physiological factors which contribute to the experience of learning. A broad-based core curriculum is offered in all learning areas for Years 7 and 8. An extensive range of electives is offered to students at Years 9 and 10 levels in Humanities science visual and Performing Arts and Technology. At senior level the students have the opportunity to choose the qualification which best suits their interests whether it be the VCE the VCAL or the study of VET subjects. An Outdoor Education programme is also offered and is based at the college's camp at Garema in the Brisbane Ranges.

Co-curricula

Co-curricula programmes at Caroline Chisholm are designed to expose students to a variety of experiences and work to complement the mainstream curriculum. The programme is divided into compulsory and non-compulsory events from Year 7 through to Year 12 to ensure that students are exposed to a variety of activities as well as providing the opportunity for students to be challenged in areas of their choice or passion.

Student Wellbeing

Pastoral care at Caroline Chisholm plays an important role in ensuring that the college’s policies and practices are respectful of the dignity rights and fundamental freedoms of individual students and staff. The student support and pastoral care framework of the college is highly developed and covers the areas of faith and personal development counselling and careers advice. The College constantly strives to create the right environment and it recognises that developing the ‘whole person’ is an essential component of the educational process.
